India: A Country Grappling With A New Pestilence, Depression

Depression is one of most underestimated major problems in India today. Where the whole world is eagerly trying to fight and looking for cures of this problem, India is still just considering it’s just a way of life and making it as an inseparable part of living.

Surprisingly a little less than 6 crore people are suffering from depression in India only and worldwide stat says that depression has captured more than 30 crore people. So that simply means that India is a house for every fifth person who is facing depression.
When it comes to urban areas and the corporate world then the no. of depressed people increase rapidly. depression in India is so vicious that 42.5% corporate world employees are a victim of it and no doubt when it comes to India people don’t even know what the hack depression is.

The situation is deteriorating day by day and still, people are living in stone age and being stereotypical about depression. I am sure you must have heard people saying depressed people as crazy people, so when someone is depressed they also try to ignore visiting doctor.

Well, this issue is increasing like anything and it’s not an easy pill to swallow that more than 370 people suicide in India just because of depression. In 2012 only more than 370K people committed suicide.
There is nothing much we need to do to stop this Epidemic just need to change the old school thought process we are carrying along with us.
