Why? Because Sunday is Funday. This is the day when you don’t need to get up early, get ready and go to the office. Sunday is something that we all wait the whole week.

Well, with God's grace it all started in Rome. On 7 March 321, Constantine The great, who was Rome’s first Christian emperor made a dispensation that Sunday would be considered as a rest day in Rome. He was a Christian and on Sunday Christians go to church to pray, so the basic idea behind making Sunday as a holiday and a rest day was just a religious thought.

Although there are other averments are also available that claims that Sunday words etymology is –SUN-DAY. A day for sun and sun is the source of energy. So to worship the source of energy Sunday decided to be a holiday.

Albeit in India the story of the holiday is something different. When Mughal emperor came to India to rule they declared Friday as a holiday as they used to go to the mosque and pray. When Britishers came to India they made it Sunday according to their religion Christianity. Yet the laborers of India had to fight for 8 years to get a week off from work.

Today apart from some Arab countries Sunday is considered as a holiday and a day of rest. Whatever the reason is, whoever started this (positively Constantine) we should be thankful to them. Well, I can’t imagine a life without Sunday. Can you?
